Description:
1930-2010. Alix Roy was a well educated young man when he began painting at the Centre d art in Port-au-Prince. Noted artists Luce Turnier, Maurice Borno and Lucien Price mentored him. Later he became a draftsman for UNICEF in Haiti. In 1956 he traveled to New York to work on perfecting his painting technique. Roy was also an illustrator for magazines while living in New York. We had a visitor to our gallery one day who told us many stories about his working with Roy and what a charming funny man he was. Roy returned to Haiti in 1978 and settled in Petit-Goave. He has exhibited in Haiti, Puerto Rico and the United States. This painting is in perfect condition and nicely framed.
