Description:
Mountain village is illuminated by the full moon allowing the locals to enjoy an evening under the stars. Rare early work complete with a beautiful hand carved frame. Felix Defournoy was born on October 23, 1952, in Petion-Ville, Haiti. He studied art at the Foyer des Art Plastiques. "Heirs to Indigenist realism, Defournoy excludes all forms of idealism to express the truth alone," says Gerald Alexis in his book "Peintres Haitiens". Arfelix was his nickname and he signed many paintings with that signature. Some say to avoid a contract with a gallery in Haiti. He painted realistic scenes full of drama or simple emotion. Unfortunately he was also a big drinker of Haitian rum which led to an early death in the 1990s.
